Stargirl's motives

It shouldn't be surprising to anybody to find out that most high school kids are constantly trying to fit in with a certain group by dressing, talking, or acting the same way. So my question is why doesn't Stargirl follow this pattern? What are Stargirl's motives to be absolutely different from everybody, almost to the point where it would be impossible to try and copy her ways? How do you think Stargirl has developed a resistance to not feel the need to fit in? Peer pressure and high school are hand-in-hand with each other yet Stargirl has found a way to be friendly to everyone and meet a lot of new people while still having her own ideas and not giving in to what other people think she should be like. Do you think it is really that simple to be able to do that?

Because I think she has seen that people just need to act normal and stop trying so hard to fit in or be "popular" so she has decided to act, think, and dress the way she wants.

I think that stargirl doesn't want to be the same as everyone else because she is happy to be herself, confident. Some people may say that to be truly confident is to like yourself for who you are; I say, that to be truly confident you need to like yourself for who you are, in addition to accepting others for who they are. Also, believing in yourself and others. That is what Stargirl does. It's not always easy to be different and to go against the flow; but it's possible. It's hard telling people what you think; especially when their opinions are completely opposed to yours. Some people will respect you for what you think, some people won't. Just try. Anything is possible. We should try, at least being ourselves and not trying to follow huge trends or cliques. Be yourself.
